Writing
At St. Maria Goretti Catholic Academy, we aim to fuel the imagination of our young pupils, where they have enjoyable and meaningful experiences, in order to develop ideas to use in their own writing. We aim to support the development of ideas through speaking and listening, author-inspired reading and reading across the curriculum, in order to allow for a range of writing genres and pupil leadership in writing. We believe that the progression of reading and writing skills is the key to becoming a successful writer. However, we also believe that becoming familiar with support tools across the school, enables further success. Walking through our school, you will meet:
- Our spelling bees
- Our word jails
- Our continuous cursive script
- A vocabulary-rich environment
"Writing is the best way to talk without being interrupted"
