 Key Information for Parents 

Class Saint

Year 1 Class Saint is St Teresa of Calcutta

PE

PE in Y1 will take place on a Tuesday & Thursday.

Please come to school in your PE kit on this day. 

Please ensure no earrings are worn.

PE Kit:  trainers, plain black or blue shorts/jogging bottoms, white t-shirt. A school jumper can be worn over the top during colder months.

If your child does not come to school in their PE kit, the parents will be contacted to bring their PE kit into school.

Homework

Homework is set every term on Seesaw. Children can choose from the list of activities. Home Learning is uploaded to Seesaw using the QR code in your child's diary. Each term you must complete all of the 12 tasks set on Seesaw. 

Spellings

Spellings will be provided on Seesaw each Friday. The spelling words chosen will be specific to what the children are learning in both Phonics and English. The expectation is that the children practice their spellings at home daily, ready for their final spelling test every Friday morning.  

Phonics

In the Summer term, Year 1 will take part in Phonics testing,

This is a national test which is set by the government.

Reading

Expectation is to read a minimum of 3 times a week with your child.  

Reading Diaries should be signed by an adult at least 3 times per week.   

Try 5 times every week for a prize!

At St. Maria Goretti Catholic Academy we use TenTen Resources. TenTen is an online subscription platform from the founders of the Catholic professional theatre company, Ten Ten, provides high-quality, media-rich, and resources. We use these resources to, enriching the Catholic ethos of our school. We mainly use it for collective worship. 

Collective Worship is an online bank of varied resources including assemblies, prayers and staff enrichment that are aimed at deepening the Catholic life of school communities. 

TenTen is providing the following access for Home and Blended Learning during the Sping 2021 lockdown: 

Collective Worship (primary) 

– Share the weekly daily classroom prayers with parents for use at home. Links can be found on each weekly resource page. 

– Guidance on streaming or pre-recording assemblies.
